LORD with His Sword

Reading Isaiah, I found a gem of a verse I had never seen before - Isaiah 27:1:

“In that day the LORD with his… great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea” 

Maybe it’s the young boy in me who loves Lord of the Rings… but I love that imagery!  Jesus with his symbolic sword, mightily facing off against every “leviathan” (that is, Satan and his tactics) that comes our way.  He is our strength, our defender!  May we always rely on Him to “slay the dragon”
