Jesus Christ our Advocate
David Bowman Art

“And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.” — 1st John 2:1

Here, Jesus isn’t just praying to the Father; He’s praying to the Father for us. He is ever making intercession in our behalf (Hebrews 7:25). I picture Christ pleading with the Father that our sins will be forgiven not according to our own merits, but according to our faith in Him and His grace and sacrifice. Its personal. Your own name and situation might very well be on His lips as the Savior begs for mercy for your sake. With Christ championing our cause, how can we fail?

I’m always humbled to hear back from you.

To prove it and show my love, for the month of  February, everyone who leaves a comment I will put your name in a hat. If you comment and link back to my blog on your blog, you get your name in the hat twice. If you leave a comment, and link back to my blog, and mention any of my art work in your blog…you get your name in the hat THREE times. What do you win?

I will pick a winner once a month and you can pick any 8×10 print from my Expressions of Christ series.

  1. I just talked to you today at BYU and wanted to come check out your website! It’s great, I’m really enjoying reading it! And thank you again for taking so much time today to talk to me and answer all of my questions.

  2. Mr Bowman, I have been searching for a picture of christ for my home for years. I wanted one that made me feel my connection to my savior. I came across “security” in Sam’s Club this week and it spoke so much to me. It is hard to put into words what I felt but I struggle with feeling good enough and have regret for all the little mistakes I make day to day. To me, “security” captured the intense love our savior has for each of us. His acceptance and his ability to reconcile our sins and return us to the innocence of children. Thank you so much for this work. It was everything I wanted my christ portrait to say. I even called the distribution company and asked when another would be in. I went back and bought it again for my artist mother in law. I love your expressions of christ series and the connection to christ they elicit. Best of luck to you. I’ll be sharing your Deseret news article and blog on my Facebook. I don’t have my own blog.
    Much appreciation,

  3. This past Summer we lost our son to suicide. My daughter received your art entitled “Home”. This picture has become a symbol as the character embracing our Savior looks just like Reagan! We like to imagine that when he left this world he was welcomed with love and compassion and that forgiveness and love were given freely and progression began from that moment forward.

  4. Your piece called “Security” has been sitting on my daughter’s bookshelf for months now. Every time I look at it, I am almost brought to tears imagining Jesus hugging my daughter that lovingly. I too am a blogger. I just put up a post today about a moment I had with my daughter that reminded me of your painting. I took a photograph of your piece to include with the post, and then did an internet search for you so I could give you credit and promote your art. I would love for you to check it out. My blog is called “Shifting My Perspective” and the post I’m referring to is at The photograph does not do your piece justice. I would love your permission to put the image that you have on your website in my blog to further promote you. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world! It really has such a profound effect! Thank you again!
